Lamborghini is owned by Audi

The stereo, air con and navigation are all familiar Audi bits from the A8 that work rather well which again is a good thing. And you start the engine using the key, not some silly starter buttton. Then there’s an auto box. Except this isn’t an auto but a robotised sequential manual e gear in Lambo speak. It’s been completely reworked for the LP560 and features five different shift maps. Shifts are faster and smoother 40 percent quicker in the new Corsa mode and there’s also a launch control program called thrust mode. Lamborghini says its customers prefers a more emotional experience and have thus engineered a deliberate thunp as you shift up the box. That’s the hard edge to the Gallardo’s driving experience it serves as a reminder that this is an Italian supercar not an ordinary hatchback but it also makes it feel less refined than Ferrari’s F1 Superfast transmission on the F430.
