Ashok Leyland also announced its foray into non-vehicular businesses. The company’s arm for developing, testing and validating vehicular designs and components, Ashley Design Engineering services has recently commenced activities, and will service overseas OEMs besides Tier I companies. The company meanwhile sold in excess of 41,000 units in the first three quarters of the fiscal, reporting a growth of 13.3 percent against the same time last year. Volumes in the domestic market grew by 16.5 percent to 37,500 units. Capacity expansion and productivity improvements, they have registered a 4 percent gain in market share in MDVs.
