M & M models

Alternate fuel vehicles were the big talking point of the Auto expo and leading the very own Mahindra & Mahindra showcased a hybrid variant of the Scorpio apart from a hydrogen powered three wheeler called the Hy-Alfa and an electric powered zero emission three wheeler called the Bijlee. Mahindra’s foray into this sector has been to highlight M&M’s R&D expertise and environment consciousness. The Scorpio hybrid is based on the current Scorpio platform and uses a diesel engine linked to an electric motor via complex electronics to deliver anywhere between 10 and 80 percent better fuel efficiency than the standard vehicle. The vehicle is currently under development and no specifications, either of the engine or the electric motor were revealed. Over the next one year, the vehicle will undergo road tests and with plans to make it expect commercially available two to three years from now.
